Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 2026
BloomSignal is a small, independent app made for gardeners. We collect only what we need to send you useful weather alerts, and we don't sell your information to anyone.
What we collect
When you use BloomSignal, we collect:
- Your email address, via Google Sign-In
- Your ZIP code, which you provide when setting up your profile
- Your payment information, processed securely by Stripe — we never see or store your card number
- Basic usage data, such as which signals you've subscribed to and when alerts were sent
How we use it
We use your information only to operate BloomSignal:
- Your email is used to send you weather alerts and occasional service updates
- Your ZIP code is used to pull hyper-local weather and frost data
- Payment data is handled by Stripe and used only to manage your subscription
- Usage data helps us understand how the app is being used so we can improve it
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data to anyone, ever
- We don't use your data for advertising
- We don't share your information with third parties except as described below
Third-party services
BloomSignal uses a small number of trusted third-party services to operate:
- Google OAuth — for sign-in. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Stripe — for payment processing. Subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
- OpenWeatherMap — for weather data. Your ZIP code is sent to their API to retrieve forecasts.
- Resend — for sending transactional email.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. Any user — regardless of location — can delete their account at any time from Profile → Remove Account. This removes your user record, subscriptions, and all associated data permanently. You can also request deletion by emailing hello@bloomsignal.app.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you. To make a request, email us at hello@bloomsignal.app.
Children's privacy
BloomSignal is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll let you know by email. Continued use of BloomSignal after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
California residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- Right to know — you can request a copy of the personal information we've collected about you in the past 12 months, including what categories of data, where it came from, and who we've shared it with
- Right to delete — you can request deletion of your personal information. This right is available to all BloomSignal users — see "Data retention & deletion" above for how to do it
- Right to opt out of sale — we do not sell your personal information, and we have not done so in the past 12 months. You do not need to opt out.
- Right to non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights
To make a CCPA request, email us at hello@bloomsignal.app with the subject line "CCPA Request." We will respond within 45 days as required by law.
Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Rhode Island, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Severability
If any provision of this policy is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
